VOLUNTEER!

National Child Abuse Prevention Month

We are going to be SUPER BUSY during the month of April!

April is designated as National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Great Plains CASA for Kids will be hosting many events.

There will be a cookout on Saturday April 14th at Dameron Park in Hereford from 11:00AM to 2:00PM. For a $5.00 donation, you can get a hamburger, drink, chips, dessert, and elote. There will also be outdoor games, music, prizes and bounce houses. CASA Cookout Flyer

On Sunday April 29th Nazarene Family Church in Hereford will be hosting Blue Sunday at 5:00PM (ALL CHURCHES WELCOME). Blue Sunday is a time for the church congregation to pray over children that have been abused. There will be a short skit put on by the different youth groups, followed by a time of prayer and then hamburgers. We ask that anyone who comes, please bring your favorite dessert. Blue Sunday Flyer

Also, during the month of April we will be traveling to local schools and businesses asking if they will participate in our “Peeps Challenge”. The peeps challenge will consist of seeing how many peeps (marshmallows dipped in colorful sugar) one can fit in their mouth and if they can say “Make a peep, don’t be afraid to speak”. Children in abusive homes can’t always use their own voice, but we as adults can be a voice for them. If an abused child comes to you for help or if you see that a child is being abused, please tell someone. Call the National Child Abuse Hotline and get help for them. We at CASA are speaking out against child abuse this April with our Peeps Challenge.

We will also be out in the community passing out blue light bulbs for a $1 donation to light up the community blue in honor of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
